Is There a Way To Turn the Light Off On the Curt Spectrum While Not Towing

Question:

I have this ordered and I see 1 complaint about light coming on when brake pedal depressed and it being kind of bright at night without a trailer. Could this be connected with a switch on the power so it could be shut off when not being used with trailer? Doing that to avoid bright annoyiny lights at night.

The Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller part # C51170 will illuminate even without a trailer connected that is correct. If you don't wish to see this light each time you hitch the brakes without a trailer attached then you will either need to mount the control knob in a location that is still within reach but not in direct eyesight or you can unplug the harness that connects the control knob to the control box. I cannot recommend you splice into any of the wires to make your own sort of cutoff switch.
