How To Mount a 6 Bolt Spare Wheel/Tire On An Open Angle Iron Trailer Frame

Question:

I have an utility trailer its 6 lug on 5 1/2 inch center. I wish to mount my spare on the outside securely. I have an angle style frame on my trailer. Thanks for any info.

The best option I have to install a six bolt spare wheel/tire on an open trailer with angle iron frame is the Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier part # FHDSTC0101. In order to install the Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier you will need to use a block of wood to square off the angle iron which you can see in the attached photos. This is the only option I have for an angle iron frame trailer as none of the spare wheel/tire carries we offer for wheels with a six bolt pattern are really designed for this. However, the method displayed for you will do a fine job of holding the spare wheel/tire without taking up space on the actual trailer.

Please note, if you want to install the spare tire carrier on the top rail you can do this as well just be sure to use a piece of wood to support the brackets.
