What Is The Width Of The PK-28B Cross Seats

What is the exact width of the cross bar seats, in that could an aluminum stock tube fit inside the seats rather than a wood 2x4? Thank you

I went and pulled these from the warehouse. From the included diagram you can see the width of the # PK-28B tapers from top to bottom.

I’m thinking of using aluminum for the cross rails instead of the wood. I see that others have done this and I would like more information on doing this. Looks like a 2x4 tube will not fit between the brackets, so 1what size tube? 2What wall thickness and 3grade have been used and how is the 4strength with what was used? so I have 4 questions.

I went and measured the inside diameter of the brackets and they taper from 1 3/4" in diameter at the top to 1 5/8" in diameter at the bottom of the cradle. They were designed to work with a 2x4 which are normally 1 3/4" x 3 3/4". That is why they have a tapered design. If you are wanting to use aluminum tubing, I would try to find some that are 1 5/8" wide so that you can rest them all the way in the cradles. I would also go with at least a 1/4" side wall and I would think that you would be ok.

I went out to the warehouse and pulled the Rack'Em lubricant rack #RA-10. Overall it is 32 inches tall and 21-1/2 inches wide. The round openings for bottles are approximately 3 inches in diameter.
