I had a Curt 5th wheel installed in 2017 GMC 2500 by the RV dealer. When I slide the hitch to moving from towing to back it into my driveway. The 5th wheel tongue cut my tailgate open like a can opener. The hitch is in the middle setting. There is two more holes below it. How much does it need to be raised Curt slider 16k. 2017 GMC Denali 2500 Duramax

The Curt 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches like part # C16521 have three sets of adjustment holes which are each spaced 2" apart on center. I am not sure how much additional space you will need to clear your tailgate but you can try to move the hitch head up to the highest set of adjustment holes to see if this will then allow your pin box to clear the tailgate. That said, this is also going to affect how the trailer is leveled in relation to the tow vehicle so a much better option for you is a fifth wheel tailgate, the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate part # VGM-14-4000 which is a fit for a 2017 GMC Sierra 2500.

looking at Dodge Laramie 1500 short bed 2013,can I get the slider and also gooseneck adaptor too. I sell and move never know, so making sure I can pull either, should I use airbags too....... I like your support and service any and all advice..............Open to all ideas.
