Question:
I am planning on modifying a small trailer and would like to use wheels identical to my vehicle for the trailer. Method MR502 are 17x8 wheels with a +38mm offset. Bolt pattern should be good, and fender placement isnt a concern at this point. Would these wheels work with or without spacers installed? Would the center of the wheel need to be open to allow the spindle through? Thanks.

Expert Reply:
It's typically not recommended to use spacers on trailer wheel applications so your best option would be the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR2KHDS02 which was designed for wider tires so it has a greater distance between the hub mounting surface and the trailer frame, this prevents you from needing spacers. If you check out the attached picture you can see that there would be 8-1/2 inches there which would be more than enough. The wheel needs to be open in the center or at least have a center cap that bulges out for clearance for the hub snout.
Then for a hub with the correct bolt pattern you'd want the part # AKIHUB-545-35-K and you'd be set.
