Best Pin Boxes to Upgrade to with 2018 Heartland Big Horn Traveler 39FL

Question:
I an considering replacing the LIPP 1621 HD 18,000 pin box on my 2018 Heartland Big Horn Traveler 39FL. I was originally considering a FlexAir pin box, but was told it would increase the trailer height by 2 inches. The height is already at 13’ 3” so that is a no starter. Any suggestions?

When installed properly and with the air bag inflated properly the Flex Air pin boxes like the part # LC328492 which fit as a replacement for your Lippert 1621 would not add height to the nose of the trailer. But even if they did you could always use a different set of mounting holes on the pin box to compensate.
The Flex Air pin boxes provide the best ride quality increase of all of the cushioned pin boxes so that would be what I would recommend. Unless you have a short bed truck and are currently using a slider hitch. Because in that case the best solution is a cushioned Sidewinder pin box part # RP61422. This provides similar cushioning but since it moves the pivot point back 22 inches you get all of the turning clearance needed when towing with a short bed truck to make tight turns without having cab interference. Also the trailer will be easier to back up and will track better behind your truck! The reversing and better tracking also helps long bed trucks too. Check out the review video I attached as well.
