Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2017 Ford F-150 with Factory Hitch
Updated 10/03/2019 | Published 10/02/2019 >
Question:
My f150 has a factory tow pkg. and hitch and I am looking to upgrade to get more GTW and TW without having to use a DW hitch. Saw this: question-231462 Any options that would allow me to remove the factory hitch so that I do not have two receivers showing? I am wanting a more factory look . Thanks, Kyle

Since your 2017 Ford F-150 is equipped with the factory trailer hitch, your only option for adding a new hitch is with the Curt Class IV Receiver Hitch # C14016. The 2" receiver on this Class IV hitch will sit just below the factory receiver. Factory hitches like what you have on your truck are actually built into the frame, so they're generally not something that can easily be removed and doing so could actually affect the integrity of the frame/truck. Because of this I do not recommend removing the factory hitch.
I definitely do understand your desire to maintain a factory appearance on the truck, although I will say that the Curt receiver lines up pretty perfectly with the factory unit to create a nice streamlined look. I have attached a couple images a customer sent in so you can get a better idea of how they stack up.
This Class IV hitch features a towing weight capacity of 10,000 pounds and a tongue weight limit of 1,000 pounds. Please just keep in mind that while this hitch may have a higher capacity than the factory unit, you will still need to stay within the truck's actual towing specs if they are lower. You can verify your F-150's towing capacity by looking through your copy of the owner's manual or by checking with a local Ford dealer.
