Will 3,500 lb Hub/Drums and Brake Assemblies Fit on 3,500 lb Dexter Axle

Question:

I have a 2003 Starlite 18foot trailer with 3500# axles and electric brakes. Will this specific axle work if I use my existing electric brake drum set up or is there a different axle specifically for brake applications?

Expert Reply:

The Dexter Axle part # 7359765 that you referenced has brake flanges attached to the spindles so your current assemblies will bolt right up and since it's the same 3,500 lb capacity you need the hubs you have will easily fit on it as well. So with this axle you will be able to install all of your current hub/drum/brake assemblies and the brakes will be functional.

Expert Reply:

The diameter of the axle # 7359765 is 2-3/8 inches so for for the correct size U-bolts you'd want the # SP01-040.
