Question:

What are the symptoms of a bad module. Our steps don’t do anything just sit and hear the motor bottomed out at the end of the stroke on the gearbox. Had to unplug to make stop

Most likely you have a mechanical issue if you can hear the motor wanting to move the steps but not able to.

I'd be willing to bet you have a problem with the gear box and need the Replacement Gear Box and A Linkage for Kwikee Electric RV Steps # LC379160 which comes with all of the mechanical components of the step.

Steps retract but motor won’t shut down?

This could mean the motor is going bad, but I would first try lubricating the gear on your step assembly. Hopefully the steps are just getting caught a little bit when retracting and it's messing with the motor function. If this doesn't help let me know what model step unit you have.
