Question:
What affect does this hitch have on the ground clearance of a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport?

As we have not yet had the opportunity to install that particular hitch on a 2011 Outlander, I do not have any exact measurements available for you.
However, Curt tells me that when the # C12048 is installed, the top of the receiver will be within 1/2 an inch of the bottom of the fascia under the bumper (see photo). The outside dimension of the class II receiver is 2 inches, therefore the bottom of the receiver will be approximately 2-1/2 inches below the bottom of the fascia.
To determine the ground clearance you will have once the hitch is installed, measure the distance from the bottom of the rear fascia to the ground, and subtract 2-1/2 inches from that measurement.
If you were planning on using the receiver to tow a trailer, you might also need the following:
Wiring harness with 4-pole trailer connector, part # 118538
1-7/8 inch trailer ball, part # 19256
2 inch trailer ball, part # 19258
If you were planning on using the receiver as an attachment point for a bike rack or other hitch mounted accessory, Curt has a warranty stipulation requiring the use of a stabilizer strap with their class I and II receivers, part # 18050.
For install instructions for the hitch and the wiring harness, refer to the provided links.
