Used an artist brush to heavily saturated in the cracked paint areas with rust oleum not long after I wrote review. Something Ive had to do do with every hitch I ever owned. Rest of the hitch still looks great because its run through car wash at least twice a week with Platinum level wash.

I purchased this hitch to haul our road bikes and fat bike, the price was great and the installation on the Mitsubishi was pretty simple as long as you remember one step they tell you in the instructions and thats to take a small brush and clean out the mounting holes in the frame other than that it was a very simple install, about 45 minutes with the brain fart, 30 without, thanks for a great product at a very affordable price.

I see that you are located in Florida. Your hitch could be corroding within the 6 month time frame due to the salt water. We recommend that you spray down your hitch periodically with fresh water to help maintain the hitch from fast corrosion.
