Are Rubber Insides for Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit Replaceable

Updated 06/03/2025 | Published 07/24/2019

Question:

Is the rubber bushings in the Road Armor Equalizer set up replaceable? With only a 1 year warranty, I want to know if they have a rebuild kit and what do they cost? It appears after removing the equalizer from the trailer, 3 bolts would take it apart, so a repair looks to be fairly strait forward. Please let me know.

I reached out to my contact at Lippert and he said that the rubber inside part of the Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit # LC696740 is not replaceable so if it were to become damaged you would need to replace the unit.

The bottom rubber is protruding out about an inch , is it still safe to travel, Or can it be put back in?

@RichardM If the rubber parts of your Road Armor are starting to stick out more than normal then I'd look into replacing them - you wouldn't want to be driving down the road and have something happen with your suspension.

@JonG Thanks Jon I am traveling at the moment so I can replace them when I get home, but that’s gonna be in another month. I was looking at the design of it and there is a bolt that goes through the middle that holds the what I call the pivot rod, so I’m assuming that if the rubber does come out that it will still be OK it just won’t have the shock absorbing on the bottom part. What do you think?

@RichardM It will all still hold together, yes, it will just give your trailer more of a jarring ride.
