Question:
I have a Thule TH9043 Helium 3 bike rack. I will be mounting 3 bike. 1 mens mountain, 1 womens hybrid, 1 kids 20 mountain bike. Is it ok to mount the womens bike? cross bar obviously much lower and different angel then mens. I get it on there but its awkward. On the kids bike I can not get the top cross bar to fit so I am able to mount 1/2 from top cos bar and also 1/2 from read wheel frame bar. Is this ok as long as its on the rack and i can get the straps secured?

Expert Reply:
I would recommend the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, part # TH982XT, to use on both the womens and childs bikes. The adapter attaches to the bikes seat post and handlebar post creating a horizontal bar that would attach securely to the bike rack. By mounting the womens bike without the adapter, not only does it mount at an odd angle and make it difficult to mount other bikes, but one of the tires will hang lower and closer to the ground. This could be hazardous on rough terrain as the tire could hit the ground or something protruding from the ground.
The key with the childs bike is to make sure it is secure. The bike rack is designed to hold bikes from a horizontal crossbar and the adapter will fit the childs bike in the same fashion as the womens bike. This again creates a horizontal bar to attach to the bike rack.
