Trouble Uncoupling Trailer From Tow Vehicle

Question:
When i try to unhook the camper after leveling it side to side, i have a hard time getting the camper off the ball. It goes up so far and stops. I have a 2005 Forest River Grand Surveyor GS260, and am using a 2 5/8 ball. Any suggestions. We are new to camping, so really dont have a lot of experience.

Generally speaking, most people will uncouple the trailer before they extend the stabilizer jacks so that is what I recommend first. That said, if you are having trouble getting the trailer high enough to release the hitch ball from the coupler then you would just need to use a stand of some sort like the Valterra Trailer Jack Stand part # A10-0900 which offers another 8" or so of lift.
If the trailer lifts the hitch ball on the vehicle when you raise it then you may need to jump up and down on the bumper in order to get it to release. Also, it would be a good idea to apply hitch ball grease part # 58117 after each use.
