Will 2-1/4 Wide Brakes Fit 2-1/2 Hub/Drums on Tent Trailer
Updated 06/17/2019 | Published 06/14/2019 >
Question:
Im looking to replace the brakes on my tent trailer 3000lbs and 13inch wheels. The old brake pads are 2-1/4inch wide but the drum is 2-1/2 deep. Im confused about the difference in sizes. I thought I ordered brakes by the drum measurement.

I understand where you are coming from but since you have a standard sized hub and drum width you can definitely use the 2-1/4" wide brakes like part # AKEBRK-35-SA which are typically used for 3,500 lb axles.
There are some higher capacity hub/drum and brake combos out there that are pretty specific in what sizes they fit but for the most part hub/drums are a little wider than the brakes that fit with them.
