Availability of Rail Adapter for B&W Turnoverball Hitch That Can Be Used with Auto-Sliding Hitch

Updated 06/13/2019 | Published 06/12/2019

Question:

Ok looking at options here. I have the BW goose neck setup in my Ram 2500 2017 and the trailer I am looking at has a auto sliding hitch with it. Is there a setup I can use with the auto slide? I noticed that the DM6140 says not to use with auto slide. Recommendations?????

You are correct that the Demco 5th Wheel Base Rail Adapter # DM6140 cannot be used with an auto-sliding hitch. This is due to the extra torque/twist that a hitch like this puts on the adapter and its connection to the gooseneck hole in the truck bed. There is not a similar rail adapter available that will both fit your Ram and work with an auto-sliding hitch.

With this in mind your best option will still be with the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3400 that drops right into the gooseneck hole, gives you the needed front to back travel for cab clearance during sharp turns, and features a 1 inch thick dual jaw design for a superior trailer connection.

If the trailer you're looking at comes with an auto-sliding hitch I recommend trying to sell it and use the money you get towards the Companion. If the hitch is in good shape you shouldn't be too far from breaking even as auto-sliding units tend to come at a more premium cost.
