Voltage Range of MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan MA00-07500K

Question:

My Customers brand new fan we installed green light comes on fan beeps and then locks up after driving only a short distance. Only way to turn back on is to kill power to it. We switched it out with another brand new one. Same problem. When the van is just sitting still fan seems to run fine. checked polarity and voltage. When the van is driving it is producing over 14 volts could this be a problem? this is about the 50th one of these we have installed without any issues. Am I missing something?

The reason the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan part # MA00-07500K is shutting off is because of the voltage spikes. The unit will shut down if the voltage exceeds more than 13.4 volts so if the vehicle is sending more than this to this fan you would need to install a voltage regulator inline with the power wire.
