Can The Andersen Ultimate Connection Be Positioned Behind Rear Axle

Question:

I just purchased the Anderson 20000lb hitch from you ord# 107874459 for my 1500Ford XLT 6.5’ box. It says to position ball closest to end gate. Will I be able to put the pin connection so the hitch pin is closer to being over the rear axle seeing that the ball is going to be behind the axle instead of 1” ahead of it?

The Andersen Ultimate Connection part # AM3200 is designed with such a large foot print and the weight is evenly distributed enough that the hitch ball being positioned behind the rear axle does not affect the functionality of the hitch according to the tech at Andersen.

You are correct in your thinking that the ideal setup is to have the pin weight from the trailer directly over the axle or slightly in front of it with a traditional fifth wheel. However, The Andersen setup is designed to still function properly without any issues behind the rear axle.
