I have the 800 to 1200 husky centerline weight distribution hitch. I find the trunnion bars to be extremely tight, hard to move, and I understand that they are torqued at 150 foot pounds. OK I did get them on the L brackets and inserted the L clips to clamp The bars down. Drove about 15 miles to store the RV made a right turn and I heard a pop. The right trunnion bar came off of my L bracket set up. Is there a stronger L clip or some other device that would prevent this from happening in the future. If not, are you telling me I should not make sharp right or left turns using this weight distribution hitch. Thank you, Walt

@WaltP I don't think you need a "stronger" L-bracket. I would not change the L brackets or the bars. I would use the parts made for that hitch system. It sounds to me that you turned sharp enough for the bar to slide entirely off the L-bracket. You have two options. First, don't turn as sharp, but that is a lame solution. Second, move where the L-brackets attach to the trailer A-frame closer to the trailer coupler. I would go to an empty parking lot and remove the bars. Then turn your vehicle as tight as you can. Put the vehicle in park and attach a bar to the hitch, then swing the loose hanging bar over to the A-frame and mark that spot that represents the furthest out the bar could be pulled out of the L-bracket. That's where to move your L-brackets to on both sides. Chances are that the person who put them on wanted to mount them in the optimal place but found other things attached there so they moved the brackets further back to clear them and as a result put them too far back where the bars could fall off. Refer to your installation instructions to find the optimal placement.
