Will Curt True Course Electronic Sway Control Help with Ice and Slippery Snow
Updated 05/13/2019 | Published 05/09/2019 >
Question:
It sounds like this device will help compensate for sway due to wind. Will it provide proper braking to compensate for the trailer sliding due to ice or slippery snow?

All of our electric sway control systems, like the Curt # C94VV you referenced, will apply the brakes when it senses sway (whether it is due to ice and snow or not) but the thing to remember is that if the tries aren't getting traction to begin with then applying the brakes won't be very effective. And depending on the speed you are traveling it may confuse the slide with turning instead of sway.
If you plan on towing your trailer in ice and snow on a regular basis then you may consider installing some tire chains on your trailer tires. This sounds a little strange since the trailer is being towed but it is actually becoming more common to use tire chains on trailer tires. The biggest challenge with this is making sure you have proper clearance so the chains don't damage your trailer. If you let me know what size tires you have I can make a recommendation for you.
