Question:
Dexter parts were more expensive is the brakes the dexter breaks a better brake shoe and the drums or is it just a brand-name

Expert Reply:
The higher cost of Dexter electric brakes like the Nev-R-Adjust # 23-459 definitely has a lot to do with their name. The name is so recognizable in the industry because they have been around for a very long time, their parts are extremely reliable, and they are made right here in the USA.
With that being said the more cost-efficient options we offer still do a great job. In fact our etrailer.com brake assemblies such as # AKEBRK-7L-SA for the Left Hand and # AKEBRK-7R-SA for the right hand feature automotive-grade friction material with pads that are fully bonded. This greatly reduces the chances of cracking and crumbling on the pads which simply leads to a longer lifespan.
These assemblies are a great option in place of the Dexter product you referenced. I have attached a couple short video demonstrations that you can check out as well.
