Deciding Between B&W Companion and Andersen Gooseneck Mount 5th Wheel Hitch Adapter

Is there an advantage to using 5th wheel versus pulling with a gooseneck adapter? Looking at Andersen or BandW Companion

If you have the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch already installed in your truck then without question your best option for adding a 5th wheel hitch is with the B&W Companion # BWRVK3500 that you referenced. While we do technically have the Companion faceted as an adapter on our site, I don't really consider it as such because it features a much different design and construction than what the gooseneck-mount version of the Andersen Ultimate offers (and any other gooseneck-to-5th-wheel adapter available).

The gooseneck Andersen Ultimate does have its light weight going for it but that's really where its list of advantages begins and ends. Keep in mind too that the Companion is designed so that it can easily be removed or installed in a couple, more manageable pieces.

The B&W Companion is going to allow for a much more secure connection with the trailer because of its 1 inch thick dual jaws. This not only gives you superior safety and peace of mind over the Andersen but will also contribute to a much smoother, quieter ride during travel. Its (Companion) heavy-duty steel construction is superior as well and it's going to hold up much better over time because of it. The Companion should be the last 5th wheel hitch you purchase.

The physical connection of the Companion itself to the Turnoverball Gooseneck is also going to be more secure since it actually mounts inside of the ball hole in the truck bed instead of just attaching to the hitch ball above it. It is made right here in the USA and is really considered to be one of the best 5th wheel hitch's on the market in terms of sheer quality and durability.
