Question:
Im looking to add the Reese Goosebox RP85FR to my Keyston Cougar 290RLS. I tow with a Dodge Ram 3500 dually with 64inch bed. The more I read the more I see suggested to use an offset ball for better cab clearance. In that case I am considering the Gen Y Goosepuck GY83XR as it fits in the factory puck system. If I use the Gen Y Goosepuck GY83XR along with the Reese Goosebox RP85FR will I have any issues with the Goosebox clearing my tailgate?

With a short bed truck it's definitely recommended that you use an offset ball to try and prevent the nose of the trailer from contacting the cab of the truck when making tight turns. The Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # GY83XR provides a 5" offset so you're correct in choosing it.
The Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR should clear the tailgate without a problem, but you may still have issues with turning clearance even with offset ball. Newer trailers have more of curved nose to help with wind resistance and turning clearance, compared to older more boxy designs, so you might end up being able to make or nearly make a 90 degree turn.
You will also need to need to check the bolt pattern of your current pin box to determine if the # RP85FR is going to be a fit. This replacement can fit the following patterns: Fabex 600, Lippert 0719, Lippert 1621, Lippert 1716, and the Lippert Rhino. If you don't know what your pattern is then look for the little white sticker that has an RPO #, LCI Item #, and Serial # and send me a picture. If there's no sticker then you'll want to use the attached guide below to measure for the bolt pattern.
In the attached video below Jake will show you the # RP85FR in a short bed truck and go over the features as well as the installation.
