Question:
Roadmaster RM-2460-2570 leafspring and shock system for 5th wheel Hello, I have a Grand Design Solitude 310GK 5th wheel. I had a leafspring break and am now considering the Roadmaster system. My axles are rated at 7,000 lbs. and Im wondering if the Roadmaster system is adequate at the 7,000 max for my 5er or I should consider an 8,000 system to have some additional margin. I dont know the impact of using a higher rated system on 7,000 lb. axles. I also have Sailun tires which are a stiffer harder tire and not sure how this will work with the entire system. Thanks much,

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit # RM-2460-2570 will work perfectly on the 7,000 lb axles of your Grand Design Solitude as it was specifically designed for 3" diameter axles with that rating. The # RM-2470-2580 is designed for 8,000 lb axles (3-1/2" diameter) axles as opposed to 7,000 lb axles.
It is certainly natural to wonder but there isn't any additional margin required as this system meets the ratings for your axles.
The Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit # RM-2460-2570 is going to give you a much more comfortable towing experience with its shock absorption, particularly since you have tires that have a bit of a stiffer ride.
