According to my research the wiring for your 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 are for the following functions:
Black/orange - Tail/Running
Red/Tan - 12V Power
Green/Red - Left Turn/Stop
Brown/Pink - Right Turn/Stop
Light Blue - Trailer Brake
Purple/Black - Reverse
Black - Ground
This means that if you are installing the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install # HM47210 you will want to connect the wiring from your Dodge Ram to the following wires on the Hopkins Endurance:
Black/orange - Brown
Red/Tan - Red
Green/Red - Yellow
Brown/Pink - Green
Light Blue - Blue
Purple/Black - Purple
Black - White
It would be worth checking to make sure this is correct with a circuit tester like part # PTW2991 since your vehicle is older.
