How Wide is Gen-Y Ramp 325-GH-R84 Hook

Question:

HI, I really like the Gen-Y Ramp products and will likely order the 6000#, 84inch ramp for my tractor trailer. Im trying to determine the best way for the hook end to secure to the back of the trailer see trailer pic attached. I do not currently have a groove for the ramp to slide into so I am exploring options. The metal ridge on top of the trailer is 2wide and if the hook end is at least 2inch wide, I would cut a groove into the wood and secure it over the top metal piece across the back of the trailer. So, can you tell me how wide the hook end opening is? My other option is to weld a C-channel across the back of the trailer. What do you think?

The hook portion of the Gen-Y Hitch Aluminum Loading Ramp Set # 325-GH-R84 that gets set on to the rear of the trailer is 14 inches in width. The depth of the hook, or how wide the opening of it is 2 inches.
