How does the king pin lock to the trailer hitch

The Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System part # AM3200 comes with a king pin coupler adapter that gets installed on the pin box of the trailer via bolts/nuts and then allows for you to attach to the hitch ball on the hitch. I have attached a photo for you which shows this adapter.
Please note that this system is not designed for trucks with beds shorter than 6' long.
