B and W Gooseneck Hitch - Below the Bed - BW77FR Review

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we'll take a look at this B&w Turnoverball Under-Bed gooseneck trailer hitch with the custom installation kit. Has a 30,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2021 Ford F-150 trucks and it will fit all bed lanes.

Now, one note, it will not fit the Ford Raptor model. And on a custom fit part like this, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle. It'll show you if this'll work for your application. This is a nice heavy duty Under-Bed hitch that'll let you tow your gooseneck trailer. Now what's nice with this hitch is it's the B&W Turnoverball gooseneck trailer hitch.

So you get the best of both worlds. When you're ready to tow the Turnoverball will create a nice sturdy, dependable connection with your gooseneck trailer and includes the standard gooseneck ball size of two and five sixteenths diameter. And then when you're done towing, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get a full bed access and a nice clean appearance. So to remove the ball, if you're not towing, pull your handle, twist it to hold it open, pull the ball out, flip it over. Again, it's got holes on all four sides, so it doesn't matter if you put it in either way, has a little handle at the top that you can hold it.

Drop it into the opening. Release your handle and that'll lock it into place. So that pin a lock it in place when it's stored or in the tow position. Right now you'll have full truck bed access. They do use on the end of this handle is a nice five eights inch thick spring loaded steel locking pin on the end of the handle, it goes all the way through the ball to secure it in place.

This access handle that operates that pin is at your driver. Rear driver's side wheel well. So basically you just reach it and the wheel well, pull the handle, twist it to open. Then you can take your ball right out, just like that. Now I did want to talk about the ball itself. Actually right here on the hitch, it has a nice single piece machine ball socket that the ball will drop into provide rugged durability. And if you notice the ball itself, it is a square ball base. So that'll prevent the ball from turning in the hitch. When you drop it in it won't turn. And the other nice thing is if you notice the corners they're chamfered off, they don't have it in sharp corners. And what that allows us when they put the ball in there, all corners are open. So it prevents any grind buildup or dirt buildup on those corners that could make it hard to get the ball in and out. And the dirt will just fall through there. Does also offer the spring loaded safety chain hookups that are built in. This is a nice powder coated steel. It is sturdy and corrosion resistant. I'm going to zoom back out. Now I did also want to mention, they do offer some specially designed accessories, which we do sell separately on our website by. from B&W. Makes it very easy to customize this hitch to fit your needs. Basically, you can use this one to tow your gooseneck. And the other thing they offer is they have a. If you want to tow a fifth wheel trailer, they sell a B&W companion fifth wheel hitch. Again, we sell it separate on our website and what that is it's a fifth wheel that has the post in the middle and it'll attach directly to this Turnoverball hitch. No other parts are required. And then you'll be able to tow a fifth wheel trailer. We usually list that B&W companion as a related product on this product page. How to install this. It's a very simple installation. Comes with the included custom mounting kit, which we've already put together just to show you how it looks installed. There is no welding required and the truck bed does not have to be removed. The only thing you need is to drill a four inch diameter hole in your truck bed to access this opening, and then four half inch diameter holes for the safety chain hookups. It does include all the mounting hardware you need for installation. Even comes with a nice set of detailed instructions that'll describe how it all goes together. And the other nice thing besides all the hardware it includes If you notice it includes this. Since the Ford truck bodies are aluminum, they include this polypropylene tape to provide a barrier between the steel and the aluminum to reduce the risk of corrosion. So just use this polypropylene tape and then the instructions will show you where to run it to prevent any corrosion problems. This part is made in the USA. Few specs again, the gross towing weight capacity is 30,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 7,500 pounds. And again, you can just drop your ball in. Release your handle. And it's locked in place. You're ready to go, But that should do it for the review on the B&W Turnoverball Under-Bed gooseneck trailer hitch with the custom installation kit..
