How to Initially Adjust Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brakes

Question:
I’m not seeing how to make an initial adjustment on this brake assembly. The adjustment gear has a metal tab in front of it not allowing my adjust tool to reach the gear.

You can initially adjust your Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brakes # 23-458-459 but the adjustment tool you are using might just be too thick to get to the adjustment wheel. You should use something that allows you to more easily access that wheel (as shown in picture) such as a flathead screwdriver.
If you go to the linked video and forward to about the 14:15 mark you can see a flathead screwdriver being used to make an initial adjustment.
