Installing a roof rack like the Thule system to the naked roof of your 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan will not cause any leaking with the weather strip. We have not had any issues with these fit kits having water leaking around the weather stripping when installed as directed. There will still be a tight weather seal on your sliding doors.
Thule is discontinuing their AeroBlade bars which will still work, but I recommend upgrading their new Wingbar Evo # TH711520. Either options will work with the Traverse foot pack # TH480R, and fit kit # THKIT1043 confirmed to fit your van.
