i just want the inner tube. do i need to replace the outer tube/?

If the outer tube you have on your trailer now measures to be 4-1/2" diameter then you will not need a new outer tube and you can use the Ram Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Trailer Coupler Adapter part # KPG5-R30IP. However, if the outer tube on your trailer is not 4-1/2" diameter then you will need both, the Ram Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Trailer Coupler Adapter part # KPG5-R30.
