Question:
Do you need to turn e coat off the rotor before installing?
asked by: Colton S
Expert Reply:
No, the E-Coat is not to be removed from the rotors. The E-coat is a protective coat that will prevent corrosion but it will not cause issues with coating your brake pads or have any negative impact.
The Dexter Disc Brake Kit - 10" Hub/Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - E-Coat - 3,500 lbs # K71-633-2 comes ready to install. I recommend packing the bearings of the hubs as usual using a grease packer like # PTW1218 and once that installation is done, then you can simply wipe down the other parts with a dry towel and then install them. There is no more preventative maintenance required for install besides bleeding the brake lines when you install the calipers.
