The 8 on 6-1/2 inch description that you see for the Dexter Trailer Hub # 8-285-11 refers to its bolt pattern. It is important to note this feature when replacing your hubs because it needs to match the pattern on your existing wheels for the wheels to mount properly.
If you are unsure what bolt pattern is on your current hubs or wheels you will just need to take a quick measurement to determine this. For a wheel or hub with 8 bolts, you will simply measure from the center of one bole hole/bolt to the center of the hole/bolt on the opposite side. If this measurement is 6-1/2 inches then you have an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
