Question:

Hello, I am aiming to convert my 32foot PJ hydraulic dovetail gooseneck trailers electric drums, to electric over hydraulic disc brakes. Kodiak recommends for me to use their 2\rcms-11d430-e brake kits. The trailer is a 2014 model year and it has the F4746904 D100G, 10k general duty axles with 16inch dual wheels. It also has 008-430-05 hubs. My truck is a 2007.5 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins. I have a Prodigy P3 controller. Is this the most robust and heavy duty kit for my trailer/axle/hub combination? Would you mind providing me with a complete parts list for this conversion? Also, it appears that both front axle, rear hub seals are leaking. What would you recommend for me to do correct this issue? Do you have detailed videos for this type of repair? Thanks so much for your help!

To replace your leaking seals, you will want the Unitized Oil Seal # 10-51. This is a confirmed fit for your hubs. I've attached a video of an oil seal installation on a similar hub to help.

For your disc brake conversion, you will need to use the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly - 9,000-10,000-lb Axles - 8 on 6-1/2 - Oil Bath # 8-288-3UC1 and then the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 11" Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - Raw Finish - Leaf Spring - 10,000-lb Dexter # K2R1058D11E compatible with these hub assemblies that include the bearings, races, and seals as well as the oil cap kit.

Then you will need to use a tandem axle brake line kit like the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Tandem Axle - 25' # HS496-252. For your Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator, I recommend the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # HBA16. This will give you the power you need for this system and it works great with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195 you already have. Our installers swear by this unit as the best option.

If you don't already have a breakaway kit, I recommend the Engager Trailer BreakAway Kit with Charger and Tester with Top Mount Display # 20400. As you do your rewiring as you install the disc brakes and remove the electric brakes, I recommend the 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # HS381-9000 to clean up your connections.

This system will work great with your 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 with 6.7 Cummins giving you a heavy duty and durable system.
