Wheel Offset of 8 and 10 Inch Trailer Wheels For Correct Backspacing

Question:

Does the 8inch and 10inch tire have a centerline offset? I want to measure from the hub to the trailer to see if the width of the tire will fit. If the rims are centerline offsets, the backspace of the wheel would be 3.5inch and 3, respectively, correct?

The 10 inch wheels and 8 inch wheels have a zero offset. This means the center of the wheel will be centered on the hub. The 10 inch hubs are 6 inches wide and will have a 3 inch backspace to the outside edge of the wheel rim. The 8 inch wheels have a width of either 3-3/4 inches, 5-3/8 inches, or 7 inches. This will give you a backspacing of 1-7/8 inches, 2-11/16 inches, or 3.5 inches. Remember the tire width is wider than the rim, so for your clearance you will also need to account for that which will be 1/2 that tire width.

For the Kenda 215/60-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range C # AM3H290 the tire has a section width of 8.9 inches so it has a backspacing of 4.45 inches.
