Question:
I’d like to consider this for a trailer fabrication project that I’m building. I’ve searched the previous FAQs and didn’t see this question asked. What is the actual metal thickness, as rated steel tubing goes in actual 1000s of an inch? Same question applies to the “Curt 49480” I’ve seen remarks about the inner diameter vs the outer 2”/2.5” but that’s not telling me anything other than rounding to the nearest 1/8th.

I went to our warehouse to measure the actual wall thickness of the Tow Ready Combo Bar # 80948 and the similar Curt # C49480, both of which are 48-inches long with a raw finish.
With a digital caliper I measured the wall thickness of the Tow Ready combo bar as 0.20 to 0.21-inches and the Curt was the same. Since these items are not machined there may be some slight unit to unit variances, especially if you are talking about thousandths of an inch.
On the receiver end of these bars there is a reinforcement collar that provides extra strength at the point where a ball mount will install.
