The Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35-SA has 18 gauge wire. We recommend using a minimum of 12 gauge wire to run to your trailer from the wiring connector because of the length of wire needed. Ideally, I recommend 10 gauge # 10-1-1 sold by the foot for best function.

18 gauge works for 5 feet length, 16 gauge for 10 feet, 12 gauge for up to 20 feet and 10 gauge after that for anything longer to allow proper amperage.
