What is Actual Way to Auto Adjust Self Adjusting Trailer Brake Assemblies

Question:
So If I jack the wheel up & activate the rhe brakes while spinning the wheel, I can pre-adjust them, right?

Hey Ray, in theory that MIGHT work but honestly it probably wouldn't and would be a massive pain compared to the easier way to adjust them. Find like a parking lot or subdivision street and while going a slower speed keep applying the brakes over and over and with every application the adjuster will click one more time until the correct tension is achieved.
Dexter recommends having the brake controller gained turned up all the way and going up to 40 mph and then using the manual override of the controller fully apply the brakes and let the trailer brakes slow you down to 20 mph. Doing this 12-15 times normally does everything. You'll get the brakes adjusted and them "burnished" to the drums so you have max braking pressure.

Thanks. That is the basic procedure I used. Went forward & reverse in my long driveway using the brake controller to apply brakes with it set to max. Haven't Burnished or Set them yet but plan to. Thanks.
