How soft, or how much give does the mat have? would i be able to place an interlocking floor directly on it?

The VanTred Custom Floor Mat # VTMS06L has a thermoplastic surface but underneath is 1/2" of foam so it is cushioned and I do not recommend putting an interlocking floor directly on top of it.
The mat is very durable and designed to protect the interior floor of your 2018 Sprinter van so if you are only seeking to protect your van's floor from damage with an easy-to-clean mat this is a great option.
The Custom Floor Mat # VTMS06L fits 2018 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 non-EXT models with a 170" wheelbase.
If your '18 Sprinter 3500 IS an EXT model and has a 170" wheelbase you will need part # VTMS06LE.
