How Far Does the HitchMate TruckStep XL Stick Out Past Hitch

Question:
What is the length of the step when extended out? My tailgate measures 20 inches from my hitch when lowered. For the step to be useful, I need the the outside edge of the 8 in deep step to extend 28 inches from my hitch.

When the HitchMate TruckStep XL part # HE4037 is extended all the way out and folded down it measures 26 inches. So it would stick out 6 inches past your tailgate.
