Can Trailer Valet 5X Be Used On Either Side of Trailer Tongue
Published 08/15/2018 >
Question:
I have viewed pictures of the Trailer Vallet 5x mounted on either the left or right side of trailer tongues. Do I need to request one side or the other when I order, or can the same unit be mounted on either side? Also, how can I know what the tongue weight of my boat/trailer combo is? I have a 21’ Moomba boat on a single axle trailer. Thank you,

Helpful Expert Reply:
The heavy-duty bracket for the Trailer Valet 5X Swivel Jack # STC-V211 referenced in your question can be mounted to either side of the trailer tongue. There is no need to specify a specific orientation when ordering the jack, as the same unit will work for either application. In fact if you check out the attached installation video, you can see that our installer initially wanted to mount the unit to the driver's side of the trailer but had to put it on the other side due to clearance issues.
This Trailer Valet features a tongue weight capacity of 500 pounds. The most accurate method for determining the loaded tongue weight of your boat trailer is to simply use a tongue weight scale like the # e99044. A trailer's tongue weight will typically be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight. If you know the total weight of your trailer with the Moomba boat loaded, you can also take a rough estimate using this percentage range.
