Length of Main Shank on Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-10

Updated 07/31/2018 | Published 07/29/2018

Question:

Two questions: How long is the tube that fits into my receiver hitch. I need just the length of the tube that fits into my hitch, not the other tube I would use for a cargo carrier, etc. What is distance from hitch pin hole in this tube to the front of this tube? Again, I refer only to the tube that fits into my existing vehicle hitch.

On the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-10 the distance from the center of the pin hole on the shank to the front of that same shank is approximately 10-3/4 inches.

From the center of the pin hole to the nearest part of the support gusset is 4-1/2 inches. So no more than 4-1/2 inches of the shank, starting at the center of the pin hole, can be inserted into the receiver. I have included a picture that has a few more measurements that should also help.

Keep in mind that the use of this adapter with an accessory such as a cargo carrier will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent.
