MaxxAir vents that have an integrated rain sensor, like the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent # MA00-04500K, do not allow you to override the sensor. If you were to override it you would be allowing rain to hit the motor which could definitely damage it.
The sensor will close the lid and shut off the fan when it is wet, but when it dries up the vent will open up and turn the fan back on.

I understand the rain sensor part. We are in the RV it's stopped raining and I want to draw in some cool air. The rain sensor isn't dry and I can't turn on the fan. How much sense does that make?? So 2 hours later the sensor drys and I can turn on the fan. Not a bright idea in my mind. Yes I understand if you override the sensor the motor gets wet and folks to stupid to do things correctly will open the vent and ask you to replace a wet motor. Waaaay to many lawyers had their hands in this. When did owners responsibility come into play?? Besides if I manually raise the lid I can still get the motor wet and still ask you to replace it. Your idea of making it impossible to override the preset commands are flawed.
