Does the Orientation of the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller Part # 39510 Matter
Updated 07/10/2018 | Published 07/06/2018 >
Question:
A video i watched on installation of the Voyager says that it is directional and must be installed facing forward. My local U-Haul dealer installed it facing the driver so that i could see the light when it is on. Does it matter which direction it is installed?

The Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller part # 39510 is a directional brake controller and must be installed parallel to the tow vehicle in a -20 to 70 degree angle. I have attached a photo to better explain how this works. I highly recommend that you install the brake controller using the manufacturer's specifications as this could cause all sorts of problems with your trailer's brakes. We typically install the brake controller on the drivers side kick panel where your right knee would be while seated in the driver's seat.
I have attached a sample install video for you as well.
