2,500 lb Axle Trailer Leaf Spring Recommendation
Updated 07/04/2018 | Published 07/02/2018 >
Question:
I have a tandem axle boat trailer rated for 5k pounds. My boat and trailer weight combined is right around 5k pounds. I recently broke one of the leaf springs and was going to replace all of my springs. A friend told me that I should upgrade my springs since I was near weight capacity. Ive heardinch that 4 springs at 2500 lbs each would not be a problem so long as I dont exceed the axle weight which I never will. Does that pose any problems? If I beef up my springs, should I get a different set of tires? Thank you.

As long as you stay under the capacity for the springs you are fine. They are designed to be safe and reliable up to their capacity so going with heavier duty springs doesn't really gain anything. It just might give you a harsher ride quality.
We have 2,500 lb axle springs as part # e66SR which would work well for you. These are 25-1/8 inches long.
