Question:
We have a Fantastic aspic fan model 6600R. The part that lifts the vent open is not working. The remote control doesn’t work but the vent wasn’t working properly before the remote stopped working. Can we just replace these parts or do we need a new unit?

Expert Reply:
I called my contact at Fan-Tastic Vent and they informed me that there are no longer any replacement parts available for the Fan-Tastic Vent Fan 6600R due to its age. I would first check to make sure none of the wires are pinched and that the lift motor is receiving power by probing the wires with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993.
If it turns out that it is not a pinched wire and the motor is bad, then you will need to replace the entire unit. For a direct replacement, I recommend the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent part # FV807350. This unit has a reversible 12-volt powered fan with variable speeds, wireless digital remote, and rain sensor that automatically closes the lid and shuts the fan off when wet. I also recommend using part # 344270KITW for easy installation.
I have attached a review video on the above vent fan for you as well.
