Head Orientation Of Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Hitch
Updated 05/01/2018 | Published 04/30/2018 >
Question:
I pulled the head assembly to raise the hitch for my new trailer and when reassembling Im not sure how the springs under the head should be oriented. The directions say to have head tilted toward front of truck, but it always seemed to be tilted forward for loading. Does the portion of the spring nearer the front of truck rest down on the base or up on the retaining pins. Pictures arent clear.

Expert Reply:
I contacted one of the technicians at Reese, they confirmed that the springs rest down on the base. The head rests directly on top of the torsion springs and then fasten the head assembly in. The head of # RP30144 is fully articulating in any direction to give a the smooth ride.
