Advice To Correct Orientation of Dual Axle Suspension.

Question:
Hello, I bought this trailer and was informed the back axle and springs where replaced. Im now questioning if the correct components where used as the rear shackle is flipped downward always has been since I owned the trailer and as I understand it this is not how it should be oriented? Im also questioning if the front springs are flattened and should be replaced, or if i should be using a different style equalizer. If I do not want to remove and reinstall hangers how do I determine the correct length/weight springs. Also what is the correct orientation of the shackles and is it advisable to have have a triangle style equalizer? Should the eyes on each end of the springs be in line with each other with the suspension unloaded or should the inner eyes be lower than the outer ends? I was also informed the brakes should be on the front axle, is there any truth to this and should i relocated the braking axle?

In regards to the shackle straps, you are correct about the orientation being off. My suggestion is to flip it to the correct orientation, to see if they start working correctly. If it does not work for you the strap or springs will need to be replaced. The style of equalizer looks fine but if is worn out it will need to be replaced. If the bolt holes on the straps are elongated, they should be replaced.
To replace the springs, measure them from each eye center on center to find the correct length. Keep in mind that if the old springs have flattened they'll measure longer than they did when new. You also want to get springs that are rated for the same weight capacity as the trailer's axle.
The hangers on this unit should not have to be replaced. However, if you were looking to replace them you would need to measure to get a similar product.
Different trailers have different equalizers and that's just what they were made with a design to have. The one on there looks like it's the original one, so you will not need to worry about the shape of that one. But if you would like to replace it, replace it with the same kind.
To see the correct orientation of the shackles I have attached help articles that has pictures of what they should look like.
The brakes are traditionally on the front axle only because that is usually where most of the weight is. However having them on the rear axle is not an issue.
