What Info is Needed to Pick Out Replacement Equalizers for Trailer Suspension

Updated 08/26/2025 | Published 08/10/2025

Question:

I have a 2023 12k gvw Kaufman car/equipment trailer. It has 6,000 pound axles and I’m looking to replace the equalizer and shackles for the suspension. I rent out the trailer so it gets a lot of miles on it and I would like to find the fully greaseable kit. I have searched but found to many options, the leaf spring widths are 1 3/4”

Hey Daniel, we can definitely help get you what you are in need of but I need more info from you to determine what equalizers and shackles you'd need for an exact replacement. Can you get me the distance between your axle centers or the width from bolt hole to bolt hole on your current equalizers? I would also need the distance between the shackle strap bolt holes to pick those out as well. Are you wanting something cushioned or just as heavy duty as possible?

8” from bolt center to bolt center on the equalizer. 2.5” from bolt center to bolt center on the shackles. Shackles overall length are 4”. Heavy duty as possible and possibly greaseable if that’s a thing.

@DanielH We have the part # K71-449-00 that is close enough in all dimensions to work for you and is also very heavy duty so it would be a really great option. There are grease fittings on all of the components as well.
