Is Finding Excess Grease On Wheel After greasing EZ Lube Spindles Something To Worry About
Updated 04/02/2018 | Published 03/31/2018 >
Question:
I just had an issue with my boat trailer axle. Had a new Dexter axle with E-Z lube spindles installed both left and right. This installation was done December 26, 2017. On March 27, 2018, I made a check and added new marine bearing grease to each wheel as demonstrated on the instructional video. I injected new grease through the fitting till new grease comes out around the grease fitting. My question is should I worry that I found a little bearing grease slung around the inside of the left wheel of the trailer. The other wheel is fine and no grease on inside of wheel. Is this grease slung around inside of left wheel OK?

Since you just pumped grease into your EZ lube spindle like the EZ Lube Spindle, Item # TRU37FR, I would not be too concerned. I would clean up the excess grease on the inside of your left wheel and keep tabs on it. Also, make sure using the same type of grease. Normally EZ Lube spindles "take care of themselves" if you carry out routine maintenance like you are doing.
If possible, I encourage you to check your grease seal to make sure it is not damaged. If you are having an actual leak, it will be coming out of the back of the hub at the grease seal.
